PARKED ART

ACF's PARKED ART in Public Places
A Pubic Announcement and Call for Art

Our pursuit of placing contemporary art in accessible, public places continues.
The review committee is preparing an ongoing image bank of art, artists, and spaces.  Meetings are taking place with managers of parks, gardens, buildings and other spaces available for public viewing. Do you have an idea for a West Marin site?  Stinson Beach, Bolinas, Point Reyes Station or Inverness?

We are seeking sculptors, painters, fiber artists, photographers, and mixed media artists whose work is able to withstand an outdoor environment for one to three months and not be a safety hazard. Artists may be reimbursed for installations or transportation expenses.

 Site One: Stinson Beach

Parked Art Site 1
Wood enclosed septic tank with dirt covering, facing the Stinson Beach Library Entrance.
Approx. Dimensions = H 2.5 feet x W 15 feet x D 50 feet.
Time Frame: 1-3 months subject to artist's availability

Site Two: Point Reyes Petaluma Road

Outside the entrance to the Marin French Cheese Factory tour launch
(former brick oven entrance), next to the store

Tours have been suspended at the Marin French Cheese Company for over a year during construction, but is hoped that tours will be resumed in the spring. At that time we will install welcoming free-standing sculpture and possibly two dimensional indoor work.

Interest in our new Parked Art program has been wonderful. Proposals and submissions are inspired and progress is being made towards the realization of this TEMPORARY SITE SCULPTURE PROJECT.  Please see below for a reminder of the program specifics and contact information for our Call for Art.

If you are interested in installing sculpture, or donating an installation site, please send an image and a paragraph about you and your work,
or site with your contact information to:

Joe Fox
Site Sculpture Coordinator for ACF.

Help Us Make it Happen!

Thank you for being a part of the ACF mission to enhance the art experience in Marin County.
By providing unique indoor and outdoor exhibitions in public places, we simultaneously make art accessible for public viewing, while promoting work by local artists.

Our 2012 fundraising campaign's objective was to raise $25,000 for 2013 programming expenses.  Until additional staff funding is secured, our hard-working board members and volunteers are serving as administrative staff, curators, and installers for our comprehensive program.

Put your dollars to work by donating whatever you can to support free-to-the-public art in Marin. We need your help now to keep the momentum...to keep the art happening.

Some of our 2013 plans include:
  • Our new PARKED ART Art in Public Places Program of temporary art installations in Stinson Beach, Bolinas, Point Reyes, Inverness, the Marin French Cheese Company and other places in Marin County
  • An innovative craft exhibition at Falkirk Cultural Center, June 14-August 17th, curated by Kathleen Hanna
  • The continuation and expansion of our informative periodic newsletter, alerting regional artists and art lovers to events and opportunities of interest.
  • More exciting, site-specific installations of contemporary art in accessible, public places

We hope you will support this important work!  Your tax-deductible contribution in any amount will go far toward presenting new artists in Marin County, and placing exciting new works in public places. This isn't just contemporary art: this is accessible work, available- perhaps unexpectedly- to those who might not otherwise have access to it. Young people, first time visitors to West Marin, people who are not likely to visit a gallery but are nonetheless moved by the inspirational quality of publicly placed art.

Whatever you give will be deeply appreciated.

You may mail your contribution to the address indicated below, or use our Paypal link for easy online giving.  All donations are tax deductible. We appreciate your generosity.

Thank you for supporting contemporary art in Marin.
