Reception: Friday, June 14, 5:30-7:30 P.M.
Splendid Objects
is an exhibition of new Bay Area craft curated by Kathleen Hanna, who
defines craft as "a set of skills highly refined over time - knowledge
of materials and tools and a vision for the possibilities they offer" -
this last is also known as a ‘design sense ‘ She has chosen to show new
works by 19 artists of all the generations currently working in the Bay
Area - descendents of the post war contemporary craft movement in
California. The work in this exhibition reflects what artists are
thinking and doing in the new millennium.
